I wish the hard work ended when the novel gets published, but that’s not the case. Marketing your work can be just as time-consuming as writing, maybe more. And marketing is not my favorite thing to do. So last week I had a psychic reading with the lovely Liz DeKeyser about promoting my novel The Sacred Flame.
She held my book in her hands and felt the energy. And she asked me, “Why are you holding on to this book?” The voice in my head answered, Because I want to control things. Then we talked about intentions. What did I see for this book? Who are the readers? Where are they? Are they just reading for pleasure or is there another reason? Are they grasping the underlying message, the deeper meaning of the book?
I nodded to myself while she asked these questions. For the last month I’ve held the book in my hands while I asked my angels to bless it, to send it out around the world, to reach millions of readers in every country, and those readers are talking about it, sharing about it, posting messages on social media. They’re excited about the story, the message of the Sacred Flame. They’re discovering their purpose and passion and sharing their joy and enthusiasm with others.
The Law of Attraction states that you bring into your life what you focus your energy on. I used to declare all my wants: I want a new car, I want a new house, I want a loving relationship, I want more money. But if your energy is focused on wanting, guess what you attract? More wanting. Rebecca Kirson tells us, “Leaning into the desire helps form an intention. The intention then holds space for an energetic urge to rise with you to create aligned action. This requires commitment and follow-through.”
Don’t just wish for great sales or best-selling status. And don’t just leave it up to the Universe. Follow your intuition. Take action. There’s a familiar saying from the Law of Attraction: Intention + Attention = No Tension. Set your intention (what you want), focus your attention (see it as already happened), then release the tension (let go). I'd already envisioned what I wanted for my book. My intuition led me to Liz. Now it was time to take action.
Liz instructed me to print out a picture of my book. Across the top I wrote, “I am releasing this book to the Universe.” Across the bottom I wrote, “I trust that I am fully supported.” I held the paper in my hands and read the words out loud. Then I burned it, letting go of my need to control, releasing the book and its energy out into the world, knowing and trusting that I am supported and taking right action.
So I ask you: What are your intentions? Write out your vision for your book or business. Borrow freely from anything I've said here - I give you permission. Put your attention on your dream, then set it free. Then share your miracles. I'd love to hear what happens.
