Yes, fermenting. Just like a bottle of good wine. We’re stewing in our own juices, letting what doesn’t serve us release and transforming what remains into something new and wonderful.
We don’t know when this transformative process will come to an end. It could be a week or a month or a year. And for some, that’s a long time to be unproductive.
So while you’re fermenting, you can do something productive. Something to move things along to further your writing, your books, your business.
Spring is the perfect time to release the things that don’t work. Let go of the habits and routines that weigh you down. Let go of the projects that feel too heavy. Let go of the clutter. Clean out your files. Make way for the new.
Then visualize. Imagine your results. I’m sure you’ve heard about this before, but how often do you do it?
If you’re working on a book, see the finished product. Hold it in your hands. Feel the cover, see the glossy shine, smell the paper. Read the words on the back—the blurb, the reviews, the bio. Breathe in the success of your book. You’re a published author!
Do the same for your business, website, product, or service. Picture it, feel it, touch it, smell it—in your mind. If the item is vague or fuzzy, just hold the space for it and fill in the details as they come.
Last week while I was bemoaning my unproductiveness, I had a brilliant thought. I’ve entered The Sacred Flame in several contests and would dearly love to win. In past contests, I’ve submitted my book and information and let happen what will. This time it occurred to me I might need to pay these contests some attention. With the Internet and my Photoshop skills, I took my book cover and the seals from each contest and created different versions of the cover showing the various awards. Then I printed them in full color. Before I go to sleep at night I gaze at these awards—all gold, of course—and imagine my book reaching readers all over the world. I say thank you for the recognition and for making a difference in people’s lives, whether they’re reading for pleasure or for inspiration. And then I let it go.
Visualization is a powerful tool that’s been used by many of our great leaders to bring their dreams to life. You can do the same. So while you’re in this great fermentation, don’t just stew. Imagine. Visualize your results. Bring your dream to life.
